The Military and Homosexuals

For the last forty years or so, the homosexual press In America has used techniques similar to what Paul Joseph Gobbels and Elizabeth Noelle used when they wrote Nazi propaganda for Das Reich, a popular German newspaper. A lie, repeated often enough by authoritative figures, will eventually be believed. Noelle insists that public opinion tends to conform to the purported majority view. The lie that the homosexual press began has been taken up by the US media. We have seen this "bandwagon theory" work here in the US, as well as in Nazi Germany.

I am a Viet Nam veteran who retired in the Army Reserve in 1988 with 21 years combined service. While stationed at Ft. Jackson, South Carolina, it fell my lot to counsel many people in basic training. Among these were homosexuals. CID would verify that they were homosexuals, and then they were removed from the military. (Some normal soldiers claimed to be homosexuals in order to avoid service in Viet Nam.)

My heart went out to these young men, some of whom suffered abuse in the Army and unnecessary temptation in an all-male environment. Homosexuals did not fit in the military environment then (1968) and they should not be in the military now. Homosexual practice is bad for the armed forces and for the United States. Here are thirteen reasons why:

1. The practice of homosexuality is morally wrong. This is the traditional Catholic, Protestant, and Jewish stand.

2. The practice of sodomy is illegal in many states.

3. The practice of homosexuality is irrational. Male and female complement each other psychologically and physically. God made them to marry, have sex, have children and raise those children in a loving and protected environment. Homosexual practice destroys the basic unit of society—the family.

4. The practice of homosexuality is medically counterindicated. David Reuben, MD, in his book, Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex, and renown Psychologist John Drakeford, EdD, in his book, Forbidden Love, present irrefutable evidence. Drakeford also demonstrates scientifically that homosexuals can be cured. Apparently some professionals who do not know how to treat them say that it is impossible to cure them. Some professionals redefine the practice of homosexuality as being normal. This is a copout and it keeps homosexuals in bondage to a debilitating lifestyle. The average lifespan of a homosexual man is 42 years versus the average lifespan of a normal man being 75 years! The average lifespan of a lesbian woman is 45 years versus the average lifespan of a normal woman being 79! (Source of statistics: Family Research Institute as quoted by Dr. D. James Kennedy in his letter dated August 31, 1995).

5. Homosexuals gravitate to younger sex objects, thereby malconditioning a new generation and reproducing themselves psychologically in others. Although only about 1.1 percent of our population is homosexual, this percentage could quickly rise if lawmakers remove the restraint on pedophiles and homosexuals. (The former 10 percent American homosexual figure came from faulty extrapolation.)

6. AIDS was primarily spread in our society through male homosexuals. The same would happen in the microcosm of the military. According to the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 250,000 cases of AIDS were reported through September 1992 and of those, 160,362 have died. The CDC reports this is how people contracted AIDS:

• 64% Practicing Male Homosexuals (6% inject drugs also)
• 23% Injecting Drug Users
• 6% Practicing Heterosexuals
• 4% Undetermined
• 2% Blood, Blood Components or Tissue Recipients
• 1% Hemophiliacs/Those with Coagulation Problems (Cases reported through 1991)

7. The outbreak of AIDS could overwhelm our already overtaxed medical services.

8. Spouses would be infected. I saw a sad and tragic example at Fort Riley.

9. The cost in money is prohibitive. It will cost about 200,000 dollars to treat each AIDS patient, and 3 billion dollars have already been spent in treating AIDS patients. AIDS patients who medically retire would further burden our nation's troubled economy.

10. Homosexuals can still be blackmailed and thus they become a security threat to the nation.

11. The armed forces would be demoralized. Some would resign. Most servicemen and women do not want homosexuals serving in the military. Navy Times letters to the editor were 90 percent against lifting the ban on homosexuals in the military. A Gallop poll of retired officers showed that 83 percent were opposed. The Marine Corps Gazette featured the article, "Disband the Corps," in which MAJ Art Corbett argued that it would be better to furl the flags than to dishonor the U S Marines by lifting the ban.

12. The scriptures teach that the practice of homosexuality is a sin. In ancient Israel, the penalty for sodomy was death:

If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them (Leviticus 20:13).

Likewise, the New Testament declares homosexuality to be a sin:

Ever since God created the world, his invisible qualities, both his eternal power and his divine nature, have been clearly seen; they are perceived in the things that God has made. So those people have no excuse at all! They know God, but they do not give him the honor that belongs to him, nor do they thank him. Instead, their thoughts have become complete nonsense, and their empty minds are filled with darkness. They say they are wise, but they are fools; instead of worshiping the immortal God, they worship images made to look like mortals or birds or animals or reptiles. And so God has given those people over to do the filthy things their hearts desire, and they do shameful things with each other. They exchange the truth about God for a lie; they worship and serve what God has created instead of the Creator himself, who is to praised forever! Amen. Because they do this, God has given them over to shameful passions. Even the women pervert the natural use of their sex by unnatural acts. In the same way the men give up natural sexual relations with women and burn with passion for each other. Men do shameful things with each other, and as a result they bring upon themselves the punishment they deserve for their wrongdoing. Because those people refuse to keep in mind the true knowledge about God, he has given them over to corrupted minds, so that they do the things that they should not do. They are filled with all kinds of wickedness, evil, greed, and vice; they are full of jealousy, murder, fighting, deceit, and malice. They gossip and speak evil of one another; they are hateful to God, insolent, proud, and boastful; they think of more ways to do evil; they disobey their parents; they have no conscience; they do not keep their promises, and they show no kindness or pity for others. They know that God's law says that people who live in this way deserve death. Yet, not only do they continue to do these very things, but they even approve of others who do them (Romans 1:20-32, Today's English Version).

In this passage of scripture, the Apostle Paul is commenting on a degenerate society. The practicing homosexuals mentioned here are hardened, sociopathic people. Paul's intention was to redeem humanity, not condemn humanity. It is plain that some of Paul's converts had been practicing homosexuals, but were now forgiven and healed:

Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the LORD Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God (1 Corinthians 6:9-11, New International Version).

There is hope for all of us! That is the beauty of the Gospel.

13. Those who support the practice of sin in any form are not contending with people, but with God himself.

The cumulative effects of the closing of bases, the inclusion of homosexuals, the budget reduction, the alleged forsaking of our MIAs, and the problem of our former Commander-in-Chief avoiding serving in the military will adversely affect our military morale and Esprit De Corps. It appears that some are trying to do what the USSR could not do—destroy our military.

Some say we should follow the example of other nations, by opening the military to practicing homosexuals. However, not all nations have opened their armed services to practicing homosexuals. Israel requires homosexuals to undergo psychological testing. Open homosexuality can "kill careers" in Germany. "Gay Parisians" can avoid military service in France. The British will remove from their army those who come "out of the closet." Australia's recent decision to lift the ban on homosexuals serving in the military created a storm of controversy and may be reversed by now. Australian defense chiefs are against homosexuals serving in the military.

The United States did not become the number one military power by being a follower of PC fads, but by being a leader and acting according to moral principles!
